Forshee/Houston
This is a very early
home in Bellvale. In the Bellvale Rising Star on page 21
it is described as follows: "The next building to the
west was the home of Daniel Forshee, now(1889) the property
of Henry W. Houston. The Forshees were weavers of carpet
and those old fashioned bed coverlets."
I was told by Mr. Art Jansson, who restored the house in
the late 1960's early 1970's that the house was built in
the late 1700's. One unique fact about the property is that
the barn was the first poured concrete barn in Orange County.
A great old house with lots of history!
