11-14 What a weekend!!!! We decided
we had to finish getting down the plaster in the upstairs
bedrooms. The downstairs was pretty well gutted but we really
needed to finish the upstairs. At some point the roof must
have leaked badly so most of the plaster was damaged and
was coming down whether we wanted it to or not. Then there
was also the issue of the "chimmney". Apparently
a wooden support was made and a brick chimmney on top of
that. It is amazing that the house didn't burn down at some
point because the creosote buildup was quite thick. When
it rained the water washed this stuff all down the walls.

"Chimmney"
with wooden base. Some kind of wood or coal stove was used
in this room.

Every so often we had to stop to let the dust settle. Corn
cobs, nuts, mouse stuff were falling down on us too.

I'm getting chunks of plaster from in between the beams.
Karl is working on the chimmney-the cement and bricks here
were really hard to break up. The backhoe really came in
handy to help get rid of all the rubble.

Looking from
kitchen up into bedroom.

Things are looking
a lot better! I woke up early this morning and caught the
fog rising from the lake-such a beautiful site!
